Fun makerspace projects.
A series of books authored by Caroline Alliston which provide exciting, accessible and inspirational design and make projects linking to the Years 1-3 science and Design Technology curricula, using cheap, recycled and everyday household objects.
The projects have all been enthusiastically tested by children, and the cover photos show children with models they have made themselves. Many more photos are shown on Caroline’s website (www.technologyforfun.co.uk).
About the author:
Caroline Alliston is a professional engineer with a degree from Cambridge and twenty four years’ experience in industry. Whilst on a career break to spend more time with her two boys, she started a club at their school to enthuse children about science and engineering. Before long there were more children on the waiting list than in the actual club!
Caroline now spends her time running hugely popular workshops for children and teachers. Unable to be in three places at once, she has written the 'Technology for Fun' series of books incorporating her favourite and most successful projects, to give even more children the opportunity to have fun making things that really work.
“Provides excellent, easy to understand guidance for teachers through instructions and diagrams. Packed with innovative, exciting, challenging and original ideas that are very accessible to the children. Cleverly re-uses everyday ‘throwaway’ objects.” Review by Key Stage 2 teacher.
